Gerontology nursing specialty courses

The Waikato DHB through its Professional Development Unit offers a suite of education programmes  for Registered and Enrolled nurses working in the Waikato region aged care sector. The programmes are free of charge, and are held at the Bryant Education centre, Waikato Hospital. Please see the calendar for dates.

Introduction to care of the older person flyer 2017 This course supports graduate RNs, CAP Nurses and experienced RNs new to the gerontology sector, as they transition into this specialist area of nursing practice. It is designed for nurses within their first year of gerontology practice.  A call for nominations will be distributed in the Waikato region if interested contact Kate Yeo

Gerontology workshop series via VC advertsing 2017 for registered and enrolled nurses. This clinically focused series is designed to enhance best practice knowledge and skills for gerontology practice.  A second workshop will be held on the 18th and 19th October 2017.  A call for nominations will be distributed in the Waikato region. Gerontology Leadership Programme  for Registered Nurses working in the aged care sector (LARK). The purpose of this programme is to assist to further develop the leadership potential of Registered Nurses working in the sector through a specifically designed course. It is intended for those already and/or developing for clinical leadership positions.    A call for nominations will be distributed in the Waikato region if interested contact Kate Yeo
